Tommy entered the band room of 诺沃克 High School. There, in America, he had to dress up as a girl. He had a shy look on his face as he stood on the pendulum base to look at the school band. Everyone stared in awe as their band director introduced "Tomi" to the band for a temporary study for music. A girl in the back of the room looked up from the magazine she was reading and saw the cutest girl she's ever seen - a schoolgirl outfit, skinny legs, very light skin, nice complexion, green eyes, short black hair with a headband, cute backpack clung to her back, clean shoes - perfect girl! It took the girl with the magazine a moment to put her glasses on and realize the pretty girl was the same guy on one of those posters in a random girl's locker. This girl was a boy from a boy band! All the girl with glasses could do was shut her mouth.
Could it be...? It's not possible, is it? Is he the guy I have to take care of?
Tommy stood before the girl sitting down on a chair. He extended his hand towards her.
"Hi. My name's Tomi. I suppose you'll be my mentor for a while? My forte is the piano & keyboard. I hear you're on the mallets?"
His smile is so cute. Is he really a guy or a girl? Because that outfit suits him a lot!
The girl shook Tommy's hand.
"Hi. The name's Nick. And yeah, I'm mallet sectional leader. I'm guessing you're in the same grade as me?"
"How did you know?"
"...I have my ways. Tell you what, I'll guide you throughout your stay here. How's that?"
"Oh wow! Thank you for your kindness."
"No problem. Stick with me and you'll be fine."
random band student: "Why are you girls speaking in Chinese?"
another band student: "Why are you 2 smiling?"
3rd band student: "Why're you girls blushing?"
The whole room exploded with awe and excitement as Tommy stuck with Nikka the whole time the band was playing music. "Tomi" caught on quickly when learning notes. Nikka was impressed with "her". Afterwards, Tommy accidentally followed Nikka during snack time. He saw the shy and lonely girl walk past the "popular group" and all the other people around her. When it almost got crowded in the hallways, Tommy clung onto Nikka's shirt. She turned back to look at him.
"I like your outfit, by the way, Nick. It kind of suits you. I like your style."
How can he say that with a smile on his face? He looks more of a girl that way...
At lunchtime, Tommy & Nikka noticed how much almost everyone fancies "Tomi", so they finally found a so-called deserted area to eat. The 2 students sat down on the floor, near the edge to the gate that protected people away from the flowers and grass at the back of the new science building. The big part of the hallway where they're at had light settings, but during lunchtime no one's hanging around there. The mood of the air stood still among the students for a moment, but then Nikka's stomach growled out of nowhere. Tommy got surprised, then chuckled a bit. Nikka scratched her head in embarrassment as Tommy took off his backpack, unzipped it, and pulled out a bento box for 2 people.
"Here, take one. My friend did this for me."
The food containing in the bentos looked so delicious. They ended up eating together.
T: "Do you like it?"
N: "Yes, I do. Thanks."
T: "Don't mention it."
N: "...your voice is a bit low for a girl...although you're really pretty..."
T: "Thank you. Ummm... I guess it's the hormones?"
N: "I know you're from 闪亮 ."
T: "Well, no need to hasten the rumour that I'm here."
N: "I only want to ask one thing from you."
T: "Well, I guess that's expected. Everyone wants a piece of this rich & famous kid."
N: "That's not what I want."
Tommy stopped eating and looked up at Nikka.
T: "What do you want, then?"
N: "I only ask if you're willing to be my friend."
T: "And you ask for nothing else in return?"
N: "Just that if I protect your back, you protect mine."
T: "If only the 2 of us eats here every day with no one else, except with the exception of whoever knows my identity."
N: "I guess this is the beautiful start of a new friendship."
T: "A deal it is, then."
The 2 friends discussed topics they had in common such as learning Mandarin Chinese, being Asian (& Pacific Islander), taking almost the same classes, working hard for their own family, appearances towards the public, 闪亮 , music, and after that they just hit it off. This friendship developed really fast.
